Slotshave. 18th-century Baroque garden created with 19th-century English-style additions (designed by P. Peterson). A bath house has carved figures of Venus and Neptune. Statues of Pan, Venus, and classical Gods in formal areas. The palace courtyard has a Neptune fountain.

The 1790s saw relandscaping into a natural English-style garden by King Frederick IV. The canals still remain with Islands and a grotto cascade with nearby hermitage. 

(1785-95) King Frederick IV's private garden. Main entrance has the Cisterns Museum. The Spring Grotto is sited in an artificial mound surrounded by mature woodland. Interior recreated by artist Marit Benthe Norheim.
